Happy 96th Birthday Carmel

 

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea was
founded in 1902 and incorporated
on October 31, 1916. 

 

Every year the town celebrates its birthday
with a family friendly Halloween themed
parade down Ocean Avenue. 

This parade starts at 11am drawing
large crowds of participants,

 

 

 and onlookers,

 

 

 including Carmel’s beloved canine friends,

 

 

and dignitaries in classic cars,

 

 

Firefighters walk the parade route
distributing candy to the onlookers,

 

 flanked by their pristine shiny
red fire engines and

Smokey Bear who reminded us
 “Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires.”

 

 

Others who joined the parade were Junior Firefighters,

 

 

reluctant bumble bees,

                                      (what they will do for a treat)

 

 

spindly spiders,

 

 

Pooh, Tigger and Piglet,

 

 

(We found) Nemo,

 

 

 The Incredibles,

 

Ironman and ride,

 

 

reluctant bumble bee (again) and his friend pumpkin,

 

 

Little Red Riding Hood,

 

 

Dorothy and her little dog too,

 

 

another bumble bee,

 

 

butterflies are free,

 

 

a representative from the San Francisco Giants,

 

 

 

and finally Officer John
